On September 11, 2008, the Sheboygan County Planning & Resources Department in conjunction with UW-Extension sent out a comprehensive planning survey to 5,500 randomly selected households. The purpose of the Sheboygan County Comprehensive Planning Survey was to gather public input on issues related to the nine elements of the State Comprehensive Planning Law (Ch. 66.1001, Wis. States). All of the information gathered and developed will be used for the completion the County's Comprehensive Plan in accordance with State Statutes. Data collected through this process will be analyzed and shared with each community in the County. The County had 1,062 completed surveys returned, for a response rate of over 20%.
The results from the random sample of the survey have been compiled into a Written Analysis. The analysis has also been divided into two downloadable sections, Summary and Raw Data (with all open ended responses). This will allow individuals to download specific sections of the analysis without having to download the entire document.
The Summary section attempts to briefly summarize the results for each question and provide minimal commentary on the meaning of the results.
The Countywide Raw Data Section of the report provides the actual results of all completed surveys. The County also divided the raw data into two data sets. One data set is only the City of Sheboygan Responses, while the other data set is All Other Sheboygan County Municipalities, excluding the City of Sheboygan.
In addition to those surveys that were sent out, County residents had the opportunity to complete the survey upon requesting one. The Survey was made available on the County’s website or by calling the County’s Planning Department. Those completing a “requested” survey had to send in the completed survey or drop it off at the County Planning Department. Requested responses were tabulated separately from the random sample to preserve the statistical significance of the random sample. This document reports results from the responses of individuals requesting a survey. There were a total of 26 responses.
A detailed analysis was not performed on the surveys that were submitted upon request. However, the actual results from these responses can be downloaded here: "Upon Request" Results. This data was analyzed separately to preserve the statistical integrity of the random sample. The results from these surveys fall within the margin of error of the random sample. |
