On March 19, 2004, the Sheboygan County Planning
& Resources Department in conjunction with UW-Extension sent
out a comprehensive planning survey to 5,000 randomly selected
households. The purpose of the Sheboygan County Comprehensive
Planning Survey was to gather public input on issues related to
the nine elements of the State Comprehensive Planning Law (Ch.
66.1001, Wis. States). All of the information gathered and developed
will be used for the completion the County's Comprehensive Plan
in accordance with State Statutes, the Sheboygan County Natural
Areas and Critical Resources Plan, Sheboygan County Outdoor Recreation
and Open Space Plan, and the Farmland Preservation Plan. Data
collected through this process will be analyzed and shared with
each community in the County. The margin of error on the random
sample is 3.2%.
The results from the random sample of the survey
have been compiled into a summary report. The report that can
be downloaded has been divided into three sections,
Summary, Open-Ended
Questions & Comments, and Raw
Data. This will allow individuals to download specific sections
of the summary without having to download the entire document.
The Summary
section attempts to briefly summarize the results for each
question and provide minimal commentary on the meaning of the
results.
The Open-Ended
Questions & Comments section provides the results of three
open-ended questions that were asked on the survey. The responses
were sorted into categories for easier reading. In instances where
individuals wrote comments directly on the survey, these comments
were recorded into the survey database and inventoried for this
report.
The
Raw Data section of the report provides the actual results
of the survey.
In addition to those surveys that were sent
out, County residents had the opportunity to complete the survey
upon requesting one. The Survey was made available on the Countys
website or by calling the Countys Planning Department. Those
completing a requested survey had to send in the completed
survey or drop it off at the County Planning Department. Requested
responses were tabulated separate from the random sample to preserve
the statistical significance of the random sample. This document
reports results from the responses of individuals requesting a
survey. There were a total of 135 responses.
A detailed analysis was not performed on the
surveys that were submitted upon request. However, the actual
results from these responses can be downloaded here:
"Upon Request" Results
This data was analyzed separately to preserve
the statistical integrity of the random sample. The results from
these surveys fall within the margin of error of the random sample.
