MISSION STATEMENT: This Department serves to improve and promote the quality of community living and natural resources for Sheboygan County. In doing so, the Department aims to balance environmental and economic vitality, in a business-principled, cost-effective, ethical manner.

SUMMARY of RESPONSIBILITIES: The Planning & Resources Department plays the lead role in the County’s comprehensive planning programs. The Department administers the County’s Shoreland, Floodplain, Sanitary, and Land Division Ordinances. The Department is also assigned the planning and management responsibilities for the Broughton Sheboygan Marsh Park, the Old Plank Road Trail, the Interurban Trail, Gerber Lakes Public Fish & Wildlife Area, the County’s 5 lake access, the Bock Farm, and the public snowmobile trail system. Finally, the Department oversees hazardous waste collection and the County’s rural address system.
