I-43 Construction in Sheboygan County

Location: I-43, South County Line – WIS 42
Description: This project involves bridge deck repair and overlay, asphaltic surface milling, hot mix asphalt pavement, beam guard, concrete base patching, ramp closure gates, law enforcement pads, and all incidentals to complete the project.
March 7 – March 13: Preparation work will begin this week for work on the southbound portion of I-43 from WIS 42 – County V. The right lane will be closed on Thursday so pavement marking can be removed in preparation for the longer closure that is scheduled to begin the following Monday. Work zone traffic control devices will be staged along the project this week in preparation for the lane closure starting next Monday as well.
March 14 – March 20: The I-43 southbound left lane will be closed from north of WIS 42 to County V. Once the closure is established, work on bridge deck replacement will begin on the WIS 42, Pigeon River, WIS 23, Sheboygan River, WIS 28 and County EE bridges, in the southbound left lane.
Traffic Impacts: I-43 will have one lane closed in the southbound lanes from WIS 42 – County V, starting at 6 a.m. Monday morning, March 15. This closure will remain up for the duration of time required to complete the first phase of the bridge deck replacements. Changeable message boards are being used to inform the motoring public in advance when work will begin. They will be posted one week prior to the work beginning.
