Sheboygan County Road Maintenance Projects for 2012

Click here Today is: I-43 in Sheboygan County Location: South county line to WIS 42 Schedule: Late February or early March to late August 2012. Length of project: 18.7 miles Description: Project began in fall 2010. The WIS 32 bridge deck over I-43 will be reconstructed, and the southbound I-43 bridges over County O and County J will be entirely reconstructed. The temporary I-43 median cross-over’s used to stage traffic for the I-43 bridge reconstruction over County O and County J will be removed. Traffic impacts: : During the construction of the WIS 32 bridge over I-43, I-43 northbound traffic trying to access WIS 32 will be rerouted using I-43 to County AA to WIS 32. The WIS 32 bridge work is expected last approximately 2 months. The WIS 32 ramps will be closed for approximately three consecutive nights while the pavement is resurfaced. During the construction of the I-43 southbound bridges over County O and County J, both northbound and southbound I-43 traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction on the existing northbound roadway (counter-directional traffic), and the I-43 southbound on ramp at WIS 42 and off ramp at WIS 23 will be closed. I-43 southbound traffic trying to access WIS 23 during this time will be rerouted to WIS 42 to WIS 23. WIS 42 traffic trying to access I-43 southbound during this time will be rerouted to WIS 23 to I-43. Except where allowed along at the I-43 bridge reconstruction, I 43 lane closures will be prohibited during peak traffic times of weekends, holidays, and Packer games. WisDOT Weekly Advisory Details: Updated 1/27/12 I-43 in Sheboygan County Location: Town of Mosel Event Interchange at Rowe Road Schedule: July to September Length of project: N/A Description: This project will construct the second half of this event interchange, the northbound off ramp. The project will also resurface Rowe Road between the northbound off ramp and southbound on ramp termini. These ramps will be restricted to use for major golf events at Whistling Straits. Traffic impacts: : Northbound I-43 may be reduced to one lane of traffic for approximately one week. Rowe Road may be closed to through traffic for approximately one week. All lanes of I-43 will remain open to traffic during peak traffic times of weekends, holidays, and Packer games. WisDOT Weekly Advisory Details: Updated 1/27/12 WIS 57 Location: South county line to WIS 32 Schedule: Early July to early November Length of project: 25 miles Description: Replacing culvert pipes, reconstructing the WIS 57 northbound bridge over the Onion River, surface repair on the WIS 57 bridge over Otter Creek, replacing pavement on approaches to the WIS 57 bridge over the Sheboygan River, adding slotted left turn bays and new signals to the County C intersection. Traffic impacts: : WIS 57 will be closed during construction and detoured in two separate stages. The first detour will be installed for the northern construction stage (north of WIS 23), and will redirect traffic to use WIS 57, WIS 23 , WIS 32 and WIS 57.This first stage of construction is expected to begin in early July and end in mid-August. The second detour will be installed for the southern construction stage (south of WIS 23), and will redirect traffic to use I-43 to WIS 23 to WIS 57. This second stage of construction is expected to begin in late August and end in early November. Local access will be maintained throughout construction. WisDOT Weekly Advisory Details: Updated 1/27/12 WIS 23 Location: Sheboygan River bridge Schedule: Two weeks, beginning summer or fall. Length of project: N/A Description: Replacement of wingwalls on the WIS 23 eastbound bridge over the Sheboygan River. Traffic impacts: : Traffic may be reduced to one lane in the eastbound direction during off-peak traffic times. All lanes of WIS 23 will remain open to traffic during peak traffic times of weekends and holidays.
