What
will happen when I appear in court on the date of my citation
The date on your citation is the date of your initial appearance.
An initial appearance is your opportunity to enter a plea
to the charge. You may enter a plea of GUILTY, NO CONTEST,
or NOT GUILTY. The initial appearance is not the
trial. If you enter a plea of guilty or no contest,
the court will find you guilty and the matter will be resolved
at the initial appearance. If you enter a plea of not guilty,
your case will be scheduled for a pretrial conference with
the prosecuting agency. The court will inform you of your
right to a jury trial and that the jury fee must be paid
within 10 days.
PLEASE NOTE: If you do not appear or enter a plea
in writing before the court date on your citation, the court
will find you guilty, impose the fine and allow 25 days
for payment of the fine. If you fail to pay the fine, your
driving privileges will be suspended for two (2) years or
until the fine is paid in full and a reinstatement fee is
paid.
IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, PLEASE CONTACT THE CLERK
OF CIRCUIT COURTS OFFICE - TRAFFIC DIVISION AT (920) 459-3063.
If you have any questions regarding the payment of your
fine, you may contact the Accounting Division at (920) 459-3078.
