Bike & Walk to Work Week (BWTWW) is a nationwide event that celebrates and encourages bicycling and walking as a means of transportation. In the state of Wisconsin, BWTWW is scheduled for June 4th – June 10th, 2011. Sheboygan County has joined countless other communities in the past several years as the Nonmotorized Transportation Pilot Program (NMTPP) has held successful events thanks to the generous support of local businesses, employers, and individuals. Every year, we see a noticeable increase in the amount of bicyclists and pedestrians during this week, and for some people it even becomes a lifelong habit.
We invite you to join in the fun for 2011! This year a number of events are scheduled, including our bike commuter stations, wacky bike expo, and Bike to Shop Week raffle for great prizes, among others. Residents are given information regarding the event’s activities in the months preceding BWTWW, while June 4th – 10th is spent fostering a sense of community through events focusing on biking and walking as a means of making Sheboygan County a healthier, cleaner, and overall better community!
Special awards are given to individuals and employers that track the most mileage. So how do you keep track of this? By entering your mileage online! It’s a simple way to challenge yourself while being eligible for prizes at the same time; just click here to participate.
Encourage your friends, family, or employer to participate! Stop by our morning commuter stations for some free morning snacks and information material from the NMTPP! You can also volunteer, or simply take part in the movement by making your morning commute less stressful!
We hope to see you out there June 4th – June 10th! |
